Apple trees blossom between March and April. Their flowers are a symbol of 'better things to come', fertility, good fortune and peace. Apple blossom is said to be a garden blessing and to have the power to bestow love, healing and transformation. It conveys the message "You are as great as you are lovely".

In Norse mythology apples were known as the "fruit of the gods". Sacred golden apples were consumed by the Aesir (Norse gods) to prevent them ageing and thus apples have become associated with immortality, eternal youth and happiness in the afterlife.

Apple blossom, perhaps because of its association with 'renewal', is the birthday flower for 31st December, the last day of the old year welcoming the birth of the new.
