Cosmos flowers for several months from late June until the first frosts. Native to Mexico, it is also known as the 'Mexican Aster'. It was named by the Spanish priest and botanist Antonio José Cavanilles (1745-1804) who chose the name to reflect the flower's attributes. 'Kosmos' in Ancient Greek means 'harmonious' and 'orderly'. A most fitting name for this perfect flower!

This variety of Cosmos with its gorgeous, snow-white flowers is appropriately named 'Purity'. Cosmos flowers are a symbol of peace, tranquillity, joy in love and joy in life. They are associated with consolation and convey the message "Hold my hand and walk with me".
